Touch screen smartphones: Sales that “explode”!

According to a study published by the firm Canalys regarding sales of smartphones in 2009, 55% of smartphones sold worldwide in the last quarter of 2009 (approximately 30 million) were equipped with a touch screen phones. This represents an increase ok 138% over a year. Moreover, throughout the year, 75.9 million touch screen phones were sold worldwide doubling over 2008. Apple, Nokia, HTC and Samsung are the major manufacturers that have benefited from this demand of touch screen smartphones.

 

The market shares of these manufacturers have generally increased, but not for all of them:

- Apple has seen its market share from 37.8% to 33.1%

- HTC has seen its halve from 20% to 10.2%

- Nokia is doing very well. With the launch of two mobiles “5800 Xpress Music” and “N97″ which were successful, it has achieved 29.5% market share aigainst 1.5% in 2008.

- Samsung remains the same with 6.4% market share

 

According to a survey which was realised by a consumer organisation, with 4 000 people who are planning to buy a mobile, 60% of them answered that touch interface would be part of criteria for their next purchase.

Demand for smartphones won’t stagnate but continue its expansion asoutlined in the sales growth in late 2009 that has reached 138%.

True or False, the facts are, mobiles equipped with touch interface seems to be true “best seller” that are hard to face. Market leaders in mobile téléphony, they won’y let their place so easily!

Sony Ericsson launches a new smartphone

Sony Ericsson continues to expand and work on several mobile platforms. The new mobile, Sony Ericsson Aspen is a smartphone with a messaging keyboard and it is under Windows Mobile 6.5.3

A week ago, it appeared under the code name Sony Ericsson “Faith”, here at its official launch: the smartphone Sony Ericsson Aspen. It’s a mobile phone intentded for a professional audience with the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 support and a messaging keyboard located under a touch screen in landscape mode.

Moreover, it belongs to the range of Greenheart mobile, it is designed in order to better respect environnement, that fact will draw the image of some companies.

Finally, the marketing manager of Sony Ericsson has described it as a “business phone with a conscience”, he added that its interface is intuitive and rich. We can conclude that it is a phone that is designed to attract processors.

The Nokia X6 arrives in France!

Nokia, the Finnish mobile giant has recently announced the launch of the new version of its smartphone X6 under Symbian S60 Fifth Edition environment.

This new mobile phone has improved compared to the version that was marketed in late 2009.

Indeed, the internal memory is divided by two with 16GB instead of 32GB. For the rest, the phone hasn’t changed and remains the same physically but also technologically highly developed.
