Eurotarif was created by European Parliament in 2007. It is a conference in which are discussed prices of the european telephone company roaming charges such as the price for a call, for a text message or to send numeric data from abroad.

Before this conference, each telephone company  dictates their own prices. Viviane Reding, the french information commissioner declared that since 2007, European Parliament try to regulate and standardize the prices of differents telephone company all over Europe “When a market dos not succeed in regulating prices on their own, lawmaker has to help them to work it out”.

The decision finally taken by the Parliament are:

- Don’t get into debt anymore when you go outside your country for holiday, the cost for a call of one minute for receiveing or answering a phone call will reduce for 3 cts (0,43 € / mn  for receiving phone calls et 0,19 € / mn for sending phone calls )

- Numeric data: 1 Megabyte dowloaded would cost 1 € at the beginning of July 2009. The bill forecast a falling in the newt year :0,80 € /Meagbyte on July 2010 and finally 0,50 € / Megabyte on July  2011.

- A text message would cost no more than 0,11 €

Moreover, the icing on the cake woulb be that your telephone company will have to dcall you as soon as your bill gets 50 € overcharged.
